DO I NEED A PORTFOLIO & WHY?

Havin a portfolio is absolutely essential to every model. it is most important tool a model can have. It is your CV. Modelling portfolios show ability and versatility, and will show your full potential as a model to all clients. As clients dont have the time to meet every single model who applies for a job its your one tool you have to make an immediate impact.  Your modelling portfolio is key, therefore the better your portfolio the higher chance of getting massive jobs.

DO I PAY FOR MY PORTFOLIO?

Every model will need to pay for their portfolio, regardless of what you may have heard, you will have to invest in your own portfolio. Top fashion agencies such as Storm & Premier will invest and build portfolios for their models but will also  take a large figure from their first pay to cover the costs of their initial portfolio shoot.  strict criteria. So it's very hard to get on their books. Additionally they own copyright to the images meaning you wouldn't be able to use them for freelance jobs and other agencies.

WILL I BE GUARANTEED WORK?

If any 'agency' offers the gurantee of work it advisable that you think twice about joining them. No agency can guarantee work. Even if you happened to be a supermodel. Once you are signed to an agency it is up to the client’s requirements for you to be selected for particular jobs. Remember, agencies make their money from you as a model by taking a certain percentage out of your earnings. Therefore they will only decide to take you on their books if they strongly believe that they can successfully place you in jobs, however no agency will guarantee work.

I WORK FULL TIME / I STUDY FULL TIME CAN I STLL MODEL?

This is a tricky one but ultimately yes - modelling can be a part-time or full time job. The more succesful you are the more work you'll get but you can always priortise studies/work ahead of modelling.  Agencies will present you with jobs and castings you can always say no.

SHOULD AGENCIES CHARGE AGENCY FEE?

No agency should ask you to pay an upfront registration or joining fee - some agencies charge for updating your portoflio or any marketing materials they have to get for you. Like Z cards, comp cards or portfolio books.

I AM BELOW 5FT7 CAN I STILL MODEL?

Although it makes things slightly harder, it doesn't make things impossible. Many models are below 5ft7. It may mean you can't do catwalk modelling but jthere are plenty more options available to you - register now to find out if you have potential.

WHY AM I PAYING A £50 DEPOSIT FOR THE ASSESSMENT?

The deposit is purely to guarantee you turn up for the assessment itself. We do have staff who work for us and its unfair if we book in potential models and they don't turn up their assessment. The assessment process is the most important part of what we do.

HOW LONG BEFORE I GET A PAYING JOB?

This again depends on what the clients are looking for. There are many stories where models start picking up jobs from the moment they sign up till 3 months after they sign up. This can also depend on new trends, new fashions, and new companies. Ultimately you tend to get out wheat you put in, so be proactive. Rather than signing with an agency you can use social networking sites and casting agencies to find work, this can be very lucrative as you don’t have to pay a percentage of your wages to an agency.
